I found out today that the first stake had been organized in Ukraine! President Nelson was in Kiev on May 30th for the organization of the first stake in the European East Area. The first counciler in the newly organized stake is Alexandr Davydov. He was the branch president in Dnepropetrovsk while I was serving there for 9 months. He is such a great man and I’m sure that he will do a great job in the stake presidency.
I wish that I could have been there to see the stake get organized. I remember that when I was in Ukraine they announced that they were going to build a temple in Kiev. What an exciting announcement, and even though they are moving really slowly on the building (I think they just purchased the land) I know that this stake is just one more step forward to letting all the members of Ukraine participate in the blessings of the temple.
Now you take your place among the stakes of Zion. You are now part of the heart of the Church.

What an exciting time to be living and to see the church grow in an area of the world where I served my mission. I’m so glad that I got to work with the people of Ukraine for two years and I hope to be able to go back someday.
