Elizabeth McPhie was married on August 15th, 2003. We were able to go down to the wedding in San Diego, but I tell you what, it was quite the production.
Wednesday
Drove up to Salt Lake to stay at the parents because we had a 6:25 flight on Jet Blue
Thursday
Barely made it to the airport in time for our flight. We flew into Long Beach and from there rented a car and drove to San Diego. Once in SD we went to Sea World. That was really fun and we got to see all of the shows and get splashed by dolphins.
That night there was a dinner for all of the family at a good Mexican Restaurant. The boys were being crazy and so we had to make an early exit. They were just very tired after such a long day, on top of which, Owen was sick. We went to bed that night but because the boys were crying so much we ended up each taking one and sleeping in our own queen bed in the hotel room.
Friday
We went to the San Diego Temple and attended the Wedding of Elizabeth McPhie and John Hyatt(sp?) It was a really great ceremony, with the sealer giving some great advice for all married couples, including “treat your wife like a queen”. After that were pictures and then a cousin lunch at a Chinese restaurant. We then headed for the airport in Long Beach, dropping by to see Don and his new baby Matthew. Then a flight home that was slightly delayed because of the blackout but we made it home in one piece and then drove home to be in bed by 1 am. Phew!
It was really nice to be able to see family including David and Erin , Robert and Megan, and Jonathen (sp?). I haven’t seen Robert for 6 years or so, but it was just like old times, with all us geeky guys gathering around to get the specs on Rob’s digital camera. We had a good trip, but it was definitely very stressful. But I’m glad that we were able to go.
