The current look is ok. But I haven’t paid attention to all the details, and I think that is what is keeping it from being great. But then again, maybe it is my lack of artistic talent that is keeping it from looking great. Who knows. I think in the end I’m going to have to rely on content over presentation as being the strong point of this blog. It is going to be back-end type stuff because there are lot’s of other great sites out there.
That being said, I’m working on the details. You can see one piece already in the mouseover of offsite links. It shows a thumbnail from alexa.com that gives you an idea of which site you are visiting. I suppose I could use the picture from thumbshots.org but there image server isn’t smart enough to get the picture from the domain, it instead looks for the domain plus the page. Also, alexa gives an image if there isn’t a webpage found.
I will detail more how I made the links, as well as get the new look together as time permits. I have to study Stats!
Update (08.07.04): Almost there. Tweaking things in the bottom and trying to figure out the best way to get that info there. And stupid PNG transparency. That would be nice to figure out.
