The internet (note: I’m following Wired’s lead and not capitalizing the word internet. Am I cutting edge or what?! ) is such a huge source of information. And with more and more people getting broadband these days, it is really becoming integrated into our daily lives. I’m amazed at how many times I will get on the internet to find the answer for something I need to get done. Like last night when the sink started leaking, it was good old internet who helped me find the answer. We’ve also found some of our favorite recipies on the internet, including one of the better flour tortilla recipies out there.
The most amazing thing for me is that the majority of information out there is free. You can go to some site and find out everything you’d ever want to know about the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Ride at Disneyland, and never pay a dime. Of course you have to consider your source and not taking everything that is written as absolute fact, but it is a great tool.
One of the things that I’ve really started to enjoy recently is PhotoBlogs. Because there are so many digital camera-ists out there the internet is the perfect medoum for displaying their pictures. My favorite photoblog is [daily dose of imagery] which has some beautiful pictures and even better a RSS feed. It’s a great example of the high quality pictures that can be seen for free on the internet.
Another great site is Ephemera. This site is cool because the pictures are beautiful and it has recently started a new linking policy which lets you show some of his images on your site as long as you give him credit. Isn’t that cool? Here’s one of my favorites:
He even has a link generation script that you can run on any picture you find that generates the code that he’d like you to use on your site. I think it’s a really cool idea and a great way to get your pictures out there.
Some other sites that have cool pictures, including stock photos.
All great sites for finding inspirations and cool pictures.
