Sand and Water, what could be better?

Dan

One of the great features/attractions at the Dinosaur museum is a huge sandbox with randomly placed fountains that spurt out water. There are also lots of plastic trees and dinos that can be placed up around the play area. The idea is to discover about erosion and show how things can become uncovered as water rushes over them.

What really makes the exhibit stand out is the obvious thought and planning that went into the design. The entire sand area is set up to have an open area in the middle that is raised up. The only way to access it is to climb under one side which keeps the big people out. This helps to separate the big kids from the small kids to prevent dominance by either.

Another nice touch is the plastic bibs that are available for the kids. This keeps the digging in the mud from turning into a traumatic event.

More Dinosaur Fun

Dan

Don’t you love the shirts?!? Mom got them for the boys and they would wear them every day if they could. What is it about dinosaurs that is so fascinating? The boys have a hard time with blue and yellow but no problem remembering Pterodactyl and Stegasaurus. Hmmm….

Headless matchstick men

Dan

Yet another find in the vast world of flickr. This is part of an entire “Ballistics” series that involves shooting random objects and taking pictures. Very impressive.
